Here's a sample letter below. Feel free to customize it!
I want to tell you about my friend Randi Shade who is running for re-election to Place 3 on the Austin City Council. I know Randi from ____________. Randi is in a very close run-off election, and Austin needs people to get out and vote for her! Early Voting is June 6-14.
The stakes are really high in this race, and everyone needs to get out and vote. There are stark differences between Randi and her opponent on the issues that matter most: public safety, cost of living, water, and clean energy. You can read more about what's at stake on her website: http://randishade.com/222/at_stake.htm
Randi has a great track record from her first term: she's helped create jobs and grow local businesses, provide strong and reliable city services, and protect our natural resources. This is everybody's Austin, and Randi works hard to listen to everyone. She listens to all sides, gets the facts before making a decision, and uses common sense to do what's in the best interest of our entire community.
Randi was endorsed by the Austin American-Statesman, whose editorial board wrote, "In her three years on the council, Shade has been a voice of reason but one who isn't afraid of tough votes. Shade brings a private-sector sensibility and the ability to hold her own with a rather aggressive collection of individuals and groups demanding city time and money. Shade has proven her ability to focus on the city's overall needs, current and future. She has earned another term on the council." Randi has lived in Austin for more than 20 years. Prior to serving on the Austin City Council, Randi has been a successful Internet entrepreneur, nonprofit executive, and an active community volunteer. She is a former UT Student Body President and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. Randi was responsible for launching AmeriCorps in Texas, and under her leadership Texas was awarded more money than any other state. Randi and her partner, Kayla Shell, an attorney and Dell executive, live in the Clarksville neighborhood and are the proud parents of 4 year-old son, Ethan, and 2 year-old daughter, Emme.
I am supporting Randi because ____________.
Please vote for her. Early voting is June 6-14. You can vote at ANY Early Voting location: http://randishade.com/212/vote.htm
